Cici Shi

Piano Teacher

Cici Shi has been passionate about music since she was a young child. She loves how music can convey our innermost emotions with feelings that are often more powerful than words.

Cici is an experienced pianist who gives regular public performances. While at school, she participated in numerous workshops, and often performed for her year group. In September 2020, Cici took part in the WPTA 2nd International Piano Competition in Singapore, with a programme spanning music from the Classical period to works from the early 20th Century. This wide range of repertoire perfectly showcased Cici’s technique and her expressive playing, and she was awarded First Prize in her age group.

Cici welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other pianists. She feels that cooperating with others allows her to gain much valuable performance experience. Her collaborations have included joining an eight-hand piano group with other students in a performance of Pomp and Circumstance by Elgar. The performance received an overwhelming response from the audience and has inspired her to seek further possibilities to perform in ensembles.

Cici is currently an undergraduate second year piano student at the prestigious conservatoire, the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. She showed especial interests working with vocalists and formed a piano duo group with her friend to broaden her ensemble playing experience. To enhance her solo piano playing, Cici enjoyed lessons with German pianist Uta Weyand and French pianist Philippe Cassard, which all inspired her interpretations of the repertoires. After she completes her studies, Cici hopes to work as a piano teacher. Her ambition is to be able to pass on her performance experience to all her students and contribute to their musical development.
